على مدى السنوات العشر الأخيرة، عمل دييغو بونويل مراسلاً أجنبياً للتلفزيون الفرنسي حيث زار عددا من البلدان كالعراق وأفغانستان والكونغو.

وكان كلما سافر لتغطية الأخبار يقول لطاقم الإنتاج "لا تخبروا أمي بأني في كولومبيا، فهذا سيوتر أعصابها".
وبعد بضع سنوات من سفره المتكرر، أدرك دييغو أن تغطية الأخبار التي أصبحت مهنته تركز فقط على أسوأ الجوانب.

وانطلاقا من هذا، أخذ دييغو منحى استثنائيا، ألا وهو التحدث عن الدول التي تحتل أخبارها العناوين الرئيسية، لكن عوضا عن التركيز على المواضيع الأساسية الثلاثة المعهودة، قرر تقديم رؤية جديدة عن هذه الدول الزاخرة بالثقة
