حاز برنامج "Top Gear" عدةَ جوائز "إيمي" لتلفزيون "BBC" كأفضل برنامج يتحدث عن
السيارات في المقام الأول، ويقدر عدد مشاهدي حلقات البرنامج بحوالي 350 مليون
مشاهد في جميع أنحاء العالم؛ حيث تم عرضه في نيوزيلندا، وأستراليا، وروسيا، وأمريكا
اللاتينية، وبلجيكا، وأيرلندا.
تلقى البرنامج إشادة كبيرة في إظهار أسلوبه البصري في العرض، كما وصفه الكاتب "
A.A. Gill" بأنه يعتبر انتصارا كبيرا لمقدمي البرنامج من حيث الحرفية في التقديم والدقة

سائق السباقات المشهور ب ذا ستيج والمشهور بالخوذة البيضاء
ومن المفجآت المزهلة في اول حلقة قيادة احد مقدمي البرنامج ، وهو « ريتشارد هاموند » سيارة مدرعة – إن صح تسميتها بسيارة – من داخل موطنها الأصلى بجنوب أفريقيا , هذة السيارة المدرعة او كما احب أن اسميها الوحش الكاسر والذى دمر بالفعل اسطورة سيارات الهامر يسمى « Marauder » وهو من ابداع شركة باراماونت .

ظهر هاموند فى البرنامج وهو يقود هذا الوحش ويحطم به الجدران ويسير به فوق السيارات وطاف به شوارع مدينة جوهانسبرج مما اثار ضجة صاخبة فى شوارع المدينة .
